Critical Thinking Question: How does this book help you to think about social issues you care about or causes you are committed to?

In the book Will Grayson Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green the social issue expressed in the book is people being gay. I personally think that being gay is fine, and so do the authors of the book. 2/3 main characters are gay. This book kind of made me think even more that gay is ok because unlike other books, this book dosn't make it an issue or main part of the book. They just wrote the book like these characters are normal people.
The book made me think more deeply about being gay because it's one of the main ideas in the book. The book expresses gay people no differently than the straight people in the book. When the book did add small parts where people judge the gay characters, it just made me want to stand up for them even more. It made me mad that in the book some characters would assume that if a gay person was with another guy they were dating. I think it's wrong to make assumptions about people so early. Even though i'm not gay, I still feel like i understand that they should be treated just like everybody else.
In conclusion, this book really helped me see gay people in a new way. I didn't used to think they were that normal but this book really gets inside their minds and you see how normal they really are. It also made me realize that people judge them way too quickly. I think it's good that there are book out there about gay people that don't make it the central point.
