Social Issue Short Story

Endangered Animals/Habitat Destruction
“Xavier! Run to the shed please! Sahar is low on food!” Father yells to me. The shed is all the way on the other side of the house, but we have to keep Sahar happy, healthy, and alive for as long as possible.
“I’m going right now! One minute!” I yell back. I climb down the wooden ladder of my tree house and run through the brightly colored fallen leaves to the shed. I tug on the doors four times before they finally burst open. When you’re in the shed all you see is hundreds of bags of food. All labeled: Dry Bengal Tiger Food: Extra Protein. We had to buy tons of food from a factory in Peru. These were the last in the world. We have the last Bengal Tiger on Earth. A lot of people find it hard to believe, but my dad is an extinction specialist and he saved the last one hoping to one day save the species. I grab a bag and run back across the field to Sahars barn. Sahar growls and stares at me with excited eyes. As soon as I leave his head is completely in the bag and he’s scarfing down food.
Scientists and my Father are still searching to see if there is another Bengal Tiger on Earth; preferably a female. That way we can possibly save the Bengal Tigers from extinction. If only the stupid people in the century before this hadn’t ruined their environments everything would’ve been okay! They left the tigers with no place to go. If I had lived back then I would’ve stopped all the people causing the tigers issues. They can’t fight for their own rights so we have to fight for them. Now their only hope is if a scientist can somehow find another tiger. I really, really hope they find one… For Sahars sake.
